Arts and Sciences: Back on the Banks
Welcome to the 2022 online edition of Access, the flagship publication of the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences.
This year marked our return to campus, and these stories show our students, staff, and faculty emerging from the pandemic stronger and more committed than ever to the liberal arts mission. Our geologists took to the high seas to solve a climate change mystery and brought public school teachers along to capture the “teachable moment.” Our students worked with faculty to create the university’s first minor in Asian American studies. And in the fall, the family of an alumna stepped forward with a gift to start a new program on Jainism in the religion department. But wait, there’s more! How about an award-winning mathematician who is also a celebrated jazz and klezmer musician?
